On 19 June 2017, the Act has been amended for a fourth time by the 42nd Canadian Parliament.
A set of changes has already taken effect on that date, while the remaining provisions will come into force in fall 2017 and early 2018.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada is cracking down on this provision and many who do not meet this condition of two years in Canada are having their PR Status revoked and being sent to the Immigration Appeal Division for a hearing before final removal of PR status and removal from Canada.
Beginning on June 11, 2015, CIC will only accept the new application forms.
The new requirements for Canadian Citizenship have been in force since June 11, 2015.
To determine whether you are a Canadian citizen, or if you require proof of Canadian citizenship, you may apply for a Certificate of Canadian Citizenship.
If you file with IVT you do not have to fill out every section of the application for every family member e.g. If you apply online using the GOES system you will have to make a separate application for each family member and fill out every section – the average time spent filling out an online Nexus application is 1.5 hours so if there are quite a few of you it could very time consuming doing it yourself.
It doesn’t matter what age your child is – they can be a newborn infant but if you want them to travel with you using the Nexus lane they must have a Nexus pass.

Section 91(25) of the British North America Act, 1867, passed by the British Parliament in London (now referred to as the Constitution Act, 1867), however, gave the Parliament of Canada authority over "Naturalization and Aliens".
